Sydney

It had been a pretty hectic last few weeks with work when I got a call form a friend in San Francisco. She told me of her friend Randy and his dog Sydney. Sydney the yellow lab and her brother/littermate Apollo came to be with Randy 9 years ago. Unfortunately Randy is being advised that for the comfort of Sydney that she be quietly put to sleep. So until then Randy will be spending as many precious moments with her and Apollo as he can. As an animal lover and dog owner I sympathize whole-heartedly with Randy and hope that he has many cherished memories of Sydney to hold on to. Take heart in hoping that when our time is near the end, as we slowly ascend, a wet nose and a wagging tail waits for you at Heaven's gate.

DON'T CRY FOR ME WHEN I'M GONE

Three score and ten are given to man,
But ours is a much briefer span.
So, though I give you all my heart,
The time will come when we must part.
But all around you, you will see,
Creatures that speak to you of me;
A tired horse, a hunted thing,
A sparrow with a broken wing ...
Pity - and help (I know you will)
And somehow, I will be with you still;
And I shall know, although I'm gone,
The love I gave you lingers on.

Please make sure to turn your volume up and on.

We know stories like this all too well and our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who suffered from the loss. I'm sure Sydney had a great life and lived it to the fullest!

What a beautiful girl! It's the hardest thing to let a loved one go, but it means that you really loved her. Sydney knows it too. She'll be waiting for you with no aches and pains wagging her tail when the time comes.

Oh Ronnie, I am a crying mess! The slide show and the pictures were beautiful, you can tell that Sydney was loved so much. All I see in the pictures is love. As an animal lover and a pet owner, I know too how difficult it can be to loose such a close companion. Our pets are our family too. My heart and prayers go out to Randy and Sydney.

Ronnie, I’m so happy to have the photos and the video, thank-you so very much. Sydney and Apollo mean the world to me and it’s so hard to watch Sydney as she grows thin and quiet. She still has her sweet personality, and you can see she’s still just the biggest kisser. I’m feeling she has only a few days left now, but I feel lucky to have had a few more weeks to thank her for the 9 years I have had with her and Apollo. I also want to say thank-you to each of you for your heartfelt observations and kind comments, EDF, Ann, Sara, and Catherine. I am touched that you all are so kind, and I moved at what you can tell from the pictures. Thank-you again, Ronnie, for capturing this time and place. People will always be able to see how sweet and pretty Sydney is, and it will be easy to see what she has meant to me.

Last night we said good-bye. I was happy to have had the last few weeks and I am glad that she won't be feeling any worse. It was very peaceful.
